Homework

Purposeful homework is a key learning tool that compliments learning, and is proven to aid progress for students when completed to a high standard. Students should record all homework in their diaries, which should be checked by parents/carers weekly.

Guidance for every subject can be found below. Support from home is key to students’ successful homework completion. Students are also encouraged to use the library and study spaces in school and in the local community.

Students will be rewarded with achievement points for excellent homework completion, and will see a direct impact on their progress and learning.

If a student does not complete a piece of homework, they will sit a homework detention to ensure it is done. Parents will be informed by text message when a piece of homework is not completed. Any homework that is not completed to an acceptable standard will result in a Poor Quality Homework point.

There are cumulative sanctions for homework which are applied on a half termly basis as follows:

3 x Homework Not Done           Warning letter to parents/carers

5 x Homework Not Done           Warning letter and 3 hour Saturday detention
