Charitable Activities
“I give you a New Commandment: love one another; you must love one another just as I have loved you”
(John 13: 34 – Jesus’ words at the Last Supper)
Through our charitable activities we develop in our pupils their understanding of the responsibility that has been placed upon us by Jesus’ invitation and how this is embedded in Catholic Social Teaching:
Macmillan Cake Sale |
A cake sale every October to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity. |
Poppy Appeal | Sale of poppies every November to raise awareness of the sacrifices made by those fallen in war and support the work of the Royal British Legion. |
Christmas Hampers |
Donations by families of students during Advent to create around 200 hampers which are distributed to needy families and elderly people in our local community for Christmas. |
Carol Singing Gospel Choir |
Carol singing at Queens Road Peckham Station to share the joy of Christ’s birth in our local community and raise money for Demelza Children’s Hospice. |
Carol Singing 6th Form Vocal Ensemble |
Carol singing in local care home to share the joy of Christ’s birth. |
Christmas Jumper Day | Organised by the Charities Team on the Student Council to raise money for Demelza Children’s Hospice. |
Grandparents’ Christmas Lunch |
Invitation to the grandparents of Year 7 students to join us for Christmas lunch, music and carol signing. |
Charities Week | Week of fundraising events during Lent culminating in the central London Bridge Walk to raise money for our annual Lenten appeal. |
Easter Eggs |
Students share the joy of the Resurrection by bringing Easter eggs to residents in local care homes. |
As well as these different initiatives, awareness of social justice issues are promoted through our weekly assemblies, in RE lessons and during the PSHCE programme.
